circe_tigana (oneshot, H/D) Draco decides that the Harry Potter everyone sees in Hogwarts can't be the real Harry Potter. A slick, smart fanfic. The author's Draco is just so clever that you wonder how he can come to certain conclusions, but you love him anyways.

"What do you mean, Draco?" asks Millicent, because it's clear that a response is required here. "Potter's sitting right over there."

They all look. And yes, there Scarhead is in all his glory, holding court with Weasel and the Mudblood.

Draco takes a delicate bite of crumpet, savouring the piquant berry spread. "Ah," he says, with his mouth full. "But that's not Harry Potter, is it?"

circe_tigana (series, complete, post-series, H/D) Set after the War, Draco and Hermione are left to wonder if Harry Potter is alive or dead. This fanfic killed me. There is such an emotional impact throughout the series that I was just blown away after each part, but have no fear

circe_tigana makes it all better. I liked how she/he ended it. It just seems to fit.

Malfoy is a stubborn little bitch.

The worst part is, that's the least of his defects. To put a fine point on the matter, Malfoy's not just a stubborn little bitch, he's also A Ferret-Faced Opportunist Traitor as well as The Pureblood Asshole Who Insults Her At Every Sodding Turn. Of course, what Malfoy really wants to be is The Boy Who Breaks the Hero of the Wizarding World's Heart.

And that's the entire problem, isn't it?

How to be Dead by

circe_tigana (series, complete, Ron/Draco) Set post-series, Draco Malfoy turns up in Harry and Ron's flat. Did I say that the last fanfic of Circe's killed me? I lied. I so lied. Circe's Ron and Draco...I am broken. Not that I would have changed anything for the world.

"Harry?"

"Hmmm?"

"Why is Draco Malfoy in our spare bedroom?"

"Because he is, all right? Ron, just --"

"Either kill him, or don't kill him. But don't ..."

A Whiter Shade of Pale by

iscaris (oneshot, H/D, James/Lucius) Wow, I think that all of my recommendations from now on a going to be depressing. Off to find more angsty fic. In A Whiter Shade of Pale Lucius Malfoy finds a love note in Draco's things and that sparks off a memory of his from his school days. *dead*

Finally, Lucius raised the hand holding the note, his back still facing Draco. He spoke softly, although his tone was harsh and cutting. "Who is this from, Draco?"

Draco's heart skipped a beat as he looked at the familiar piece of parchment, one of many he'd received before. More than that, he sensed the imminent storm in his father's dangerous tone. The last time he remembered this same deadly quiet voice, his father had flung him across the room in a virulent fit of anger.

Draco bit his lip, and his voice quavered slightly as he answered simply, "A friend."

Giving Notice by Quoth the Raven (series, incomplete, gen) A death in Hogwarts changes everything. Each chapter is told from the point of view of a different character in the Harry Potter universe. Oh my god did this series hurt and there is no relief in sight. The author can provoke such angst and emotion that I have to recommend it even though it depresses the hell out of me. Even though it's incomplete, I really enjoyed reading what the author had available. Now shoo!

thepsychicclam (complete, H/D) Maybe I should have interspersed these angsty fanfic a little further apart. More fluff next post. Anyways, the relationship between Harry and Draco is breaking up. Harry cannot cope. What do I like about this fic? Her description of Harry and his eventual breakdown after the split is perfect. It really conveys the injustice of being in love with someone who doesn't love you back beautifully. I love light and happy and H/D, but I also crave doomedfromthestart!fic for that pairing at the same time. *loves*
