My Death Waits by Derry (pre-novel, ficlet) The first meeting between Alec and St. Viers and possibly why they decide to live together before the beginning of the book. Nice characterizations and you feel like what Derry is writing is actually what Alec and St.Viers would say.

Oh, and if you haven't read "Swordspoint" by Ellen Kushner, I suggest at least checking it out from the local library. Well written, novel length slash (PG rated unfortunately) set in medieval times.
