Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi )

Spirited Away or Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi was produced in Japan in 2001 by Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was translated into English and showcased in American cinemas in September of 2002. Spirited Away tells the story of Chihiro Ogino, who gets trapped in the Spirit World after following her parents down an unknown tunnel into an abandoned amusement park. However the park is not as unoccupied as they would believe and it is up to Chihiro to save her parents from the witch Yubaba.

Spirited Away is a must have for any anime fan's library. Like all of Miyazaki's work, the artwork and attention to detail is stunning as well as the movie having a good, solid plotline. The DVD and VHS are readily available in most video stores, as Spirited Away was released in the US by Disney, and the Mouse is everywhere.

I'm a Chihiro/Haku fangirl at heart and this will probably be one of my very rare het only set of recomendations. So be prepared for a loads of yaoi/slash recs later in the day.
