Fading Footsteps part 1, 2, and its Side Story by

stickmarionette (series, complete, crossover, FMA/Harry Potter, gen, end of series, spoilers) Edward Elric is stuck on the other side of the gate looking for a way back home. Frustrated by his lack of sucess finding a scientific means to cross, Ed has turned to magic and the most prestigious magical school to find his answers. This story is set pre-HP, during the time of Grindewald and Tom Riddle's attendance at school. What I really like is how mature the author writes Ed and his great interaction with Tom. Ed is jaded with his lack of sucess in finding a way back home and he sort of connects/strikes up a friendship with the Slytherin which is a delight to read. There are also clever twists in how

stickmarionette presents the Harry Potter universe with Ed in it that tickeled me too. It's just an excellent read.

Birth and Two of a Kind by

kytyngurl12 (oneshots, gen, HohenheimxTrisha, spoilers) Two very cute pieces that deal with Ed's birth and its ramifications. The first work is very Hohenheim centric and takes an interesting look at his thoughts when his son is born. I like the introspectiveness of it, and the second one is just plain cute.

The Trials and Tribulations of Roy Mustang by

kazaera (oneshot, gen, pre-series, crack!) A representative from Child Services confronts Roy about the legal guardianship of the Elric brothers. This is just crack, no real plot, except for the fun of thinking about how the Elric brothers would think of this revelation. there are also extra tidbits in the comments, so give them a look over.

Roses are Red by

devils_devotion (oneshot, shounen-ai, Roy+Ed) Summary: Colonel Mustang isn't really a flower person, so everyone has to wonder where all of those roses GO. I really like this piece for its great use of Hawkeye's voice. There's no real plot or great mystery so while it's short and amusing, what I get out of this story is Demi's excellent characterizations and grasp of the comedic. I also thought that Demi's descriptions on what Roy does with all his roses was just plain funny too. ^^
