sub_divided has Raito's arrogance down pat. Besides the wonderful writing, you get this creepy feeling that it could very well end up like this.

Starlight by

sub_divided (oneshot, AU, LightxL) Light and L are at a party celebrating the end of Kira's killing spree. While I enjoyed the fic as a whole, my favorite part was the extrapolation and discussion between L and Light. The two of them are just so evenly matched and

sub_divided does such a good job with the verbal sparring.

aishuu (drabble, AU) Another entry for the In the End challenge. Very emotional, the one act described in Aishuu's fic just got to me.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry by

aishuu (drabble, gen, Raito, L, crack) OMG, giggling to death here. Just a cute, cute fic, and the punch line is just perfect.

Something Wicked This Way Comes prologue to chapter 6 and chapter 7 by

aishuu (series, WiP, AU, eventual LxLight) Written for the

30_kisses community, this series is an alternate look at how the Kira investigation would have gone if L didn't automatically latch onto Raito as his main suspect. As a matter of fact, the series opens up with Raito joining the team to track down Kira. Interesting premise and I think this series will deviate a lot from canon.

Turning to leave, he hesitated suddenly. He wasn't sure what it was. Instinct, perhaps, that someone was watching him. Something caused him to look over his shoulder, and it was only his customary composure that saved him from gasping as he met Yagami Raito's gaze squarely.

I know who you are, the expression said.

L was transfixed. Even from fifteen feet away, he could see their fierceness which burned through the air between them. He nodded slightly, pulling away into the crowd and hoping to disappear as soon as possible.

Office Politics by

rageprufrock (oneshot, LxRaito, crack) You know sometimes I think I should feel guilty for recommending the same authors over and over again, and then I read one of their new works and think "Nah." But onto the fic, Office Politics is a cracked out look at what a relationship between Yagami Light and L might look like. I just loved this fic to pieces, while it is crackful, it's still IC, which just makes it funnier. It's hard to explain without giving away all the good bits, so here's an excerpt,

That was the problem about dating in the workplace: relationship problems always translated to office tension.

One day, rubbing his large, haunted eyes, L asks the chief of police, "Did you hug your son enough as a kid?"

The chief just gives him a strange, hamstrung expression before saying, "No."

L sighs. "That explains part of it," he says tiredly.

Remorse by Trismegistus

lebateleur (oneshot, AU, gen) A very intense piece of writing on a possible outcome based on the Yotsuba arc. *isdead* No more than this, sorry.

"Ryuk," Light asks, eyes fired with steely curiosity, "What would happen if most of the Death Note's pages were to be destroyed?"

"To the Note itself? Nothing," grins Ryuk. "After all, haven't you been throwing bits and pieces of it out all the time? They're incinerated with all the other trash, aren't they? If destroying them destroyed the Death Note too, you would have known about it long before now."

Light is obviously annoyed that this hadn't occurred to him sooner. He despises committing any misstep which might compromise his greater purpose. But the annoyance is soon replaced with the hard, satisfied smile that sends chills of joy down Ryuk's spine. Something interesting is going to happen.

"Well then," Light says, and rips all the pages with his handwriting on them from the Note.
